For the third straight season, Stanford football went to the Rose Bowl, but this season that trip was just for our regular season game against UCLA. In that November 28 game we looked like the powerhouse we expected and crushed the #8 ranked Bruins, who were playing for the Pac-12 championship -- making many Stanford fans like me wonder where that fantastic Stanford team has been all season. Our reward for our strong ending to the season is that we get to play our bowl game just 12 miles down US 101 from Stanford in the Foster Farms Bowl at Levi's Stadium. The game will be played on Tuesday, December 30 at 7 p.m. against Maryland (who as of this season is now in the Big Ten).
For those interested in going to the game, this should be a great opportunity to check out the new 49ers stadium for a significantly lower cost than the price of a 49ers ticket. Tickets range from $59 to $129 and will be available starting on Wednesday, December 10 at gostanford.com.
For the rest of you staying in Portland for the holidays, we will have a big bowl game party at the Buffalo Gap.
