*Please note this project takes place on May 7, 2016.

Please join Stanford Alumni, Yale Alumni, and other community volunteers as we work with students in grades 5 - 12 through exercises and workshops to demonstrate how success follows post-secondary education! This project will be held with students from the Seattle area middle schools and high schools and is focused on students of color.

Volunteers will serve as panel members or as workshop facilitators on topics ranging from being your authentic self, the college application process and an essay writing workshop.

Student participants will have the opportunity to connect with community mentors and hear their stories about their journey and how post-secondary education has helped them in their lives and careers. The goal for this event is to draw attention to the challenge of secondary education success in urban environments and the deficit of students continuing on the post-secondary education. This project aims to connect students with mentors in their community and provide real-life examples of professional of color from similar backgrounds that have used education as a means to defy expectations and find success.

Volunteers are welcome to come for the morning shift (9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.), the afternoon shift (1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.), or all day (9:30 a.m-4 p.m.)! Please note we will break for lunch around 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
