In every organ of our body there exists a reservoir of stem cells responsible for maintaining tissue homeostasis and, as the need arises, repairing injuries. As we grow older, stem cell function deteriorates and with this decline comes a host of age-related tribulations. While immortality remains out of reach for us humans, serious scientific advances are being made in longevity research. These advances are shaping the field of regenerative medicine and sparking a wave of investments into the commercial products aimed at aging.

Join us to hear Stanford Professor Jill Helms discuss her groundbreaking research on this fascinating topic!

Jill Helms is a professor in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Stanford University’s School of Medicine. Her main research interests are in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. Professor Helms’ laboratory focuses on translating stem cell discoveries into regenerative medicine therapies for patients. Professor Helms serves on a number of scientific advisory boards and journal editorial boards, and reviews manuscripts for a number of leading journals. Her greatest pleasure comes in mentoring students, and making science accessible and fun to individuals of all ages.

Dr. Helms is also a captivating speaker and a favorite among Stanford audiences.  Click here to see Dr. Helms discuss her pioneering research at TEDx Stanford!
