2016 Stanford Bicycling STAGE 2: Conifer/Evergreen

Stage 3: Trail Ridge Road 

Estes Park, CO/ Sunday, July 24, 2016
We will start in Estes Park and ride to over 12,000 feet to the Alpine Center on the highest paved through-road in the nation.  A brave few may choose to ride down the west side towards Grand Lake and climb the back side. Don't let this one scare you.  The climb is a steady 5-7% but is not that tough.  The views are unbelievable.   We will ride on Sunday morning, to minimize traffic concerns.  Lunch to follow in Estes Park.

Stage 4: Golden / RMSA Annual Picnic
Golden, CO / Sunday, August 21, 2016
Route TBD, but it will likely include either Lookout Mountain or Golden Gate Canyon.   After the ride join fellow RMSA members at the Annual Picnic at Lions Park.

Stage 5: 5th Annual Aspen Viewing Ride
Location TBD / September, 2016 (date TBD)
This will be our ever-popular aspen viewing ride.  We will choose the final date and location based on optimal aspen viewing.

All routes are on paved or packed gravel/dirt roads with normal automobile traffic suitable for riding on road bikes with narrow tires.  (A mountain bike or cyclo-cross bike is not required).  It is highly recommended that all participants be at least 16 years of age and have ample experience riding on roads with narrow shoulders. 

These are not supported rides, just social RMSA events.  Riders need to bring their own equipment, flat repair kit, food, water, and clothing.  Rides are arranged where water and food is available along the route, if necessary, and bathroom facilities may be available.  We will have a leader for each course who is familiar with the roads and cycling terrain, and who will make sure that all riders know where to turn and don’t get dropped from the ride.  

Special Notes:  RMSA, the Stanford Alumni Association, Stanford University, and the ride hosts have no legal liability for injury to a rider or damage to their equipment.  All participants are expected to ride a route that is appropriate to their skill level.  (We are happy to provide guidance and suggestions.)
