Stanford Jazz Workshop Package

The event on June 17 is Jazz inside Out. Friday, June 17, 8:00 pm at Campbell Recital Hall, Braun Music Center.  What makes Jazz different from other music?  SJW's founder and artistic director Jim Nadel picks up his sax and leads a band of top-notch players to help illustrate his good-humored and enlightening explanations.

The second event is Celebrating the Ella Fitzgerald Songbook on Sunday July 10, 2:00 pm and 1:00 pre-concert talk with Sonny Buxton, KCSM JAZZ 91.1 DJ at Dinkelspiel Auditorium.  Today, great voices make great jazz in the tradiiton of Ella. This all-star lineup of singers and instrumentalists will reprise and celebrate the music that Ella loved most, on the eve of her 100th birthday.

 The third event is Victor Lin Takes Jazz to the Movies, Thursday, July 21, 7:30 pm at Dinkelspiel Auditorium.  Hollywood films have given us some of the greatest songs in jazz.  In this sure-to-be dazzling concert, SSC fave Victor Lin revisits those classics and interprets recent film music as only he can. A post-concert reception wit the artists is planned.

The fourth event is Backstage at the Workshops, time and date in early August TBD.  Ticket package purchasers will be notified by e-mail.  Go behind the scenes at Jazz Camp for an insider's look at how it all works, and watch faculty and students in action as they learn. This special private tour, a perennial favorite with SSC members, will feature the percussionist Tupac in action in the classroom.
