2016 Stanford Bicycling STAGE 4: RMSA Picnic

This will be our ever-popular aspen viewing ride.  We will choose the final date and location based on optimal aspen viewing.  Likely candidate is Guanella Pass from Idaho Springs.

All routes are on paved or packed gravel/dirt roads with normal automobile traffic suitable for riding on road bikes with narrow tires.  (A mountain bike or cyclo-cross bike is not required).  It is highly recommended that all participants be at least 16 years of age and have ample experience riding on roads with narrow shoulders. 

These are not supported rides, just social RMSA events.  Riders need to bring their own equipment, flat repair kit, food, water, and clothing.  Rides are arranged where water and food is available along the route, if necessary, and bathroom facilities may be available.  We will have a leader for each course who is familiar with the roads and cycling terrain, and who will make sure that all riders know where to turn and don’t get dropped from the ride.  

Special Notes:  RMSA, the Stanford Alumni Association, Stanford University, and the ride hosts have no legal liability for injury to a rider or damage to their equipment.  All participants are expected to ride a route that is appropriate to their skill level.  (We are happy to provide guidance and suggestions.)

From the intersection of Rte 93 from Boulder and Rte 6 in Golden, proceed east on Rte 58 (Golden Freeway).  Use the Washington Street exit South and take the third right onto 10th St.  The park will be 4 blocks ahead at Elm Street.  Parking is available on all sides of the park.
