Join us for a special speaker event featuring Gary Jacobson '66, Distinguished Professor of Political Science Emeritus at the University of California, San Diego.  Prof. Jacobson gave a warmly-received talk in 2008 on the eve of the presidential election, and he has kindly agreed to address the partisan particularities of the current election.

Lecture Topic:

Is all politics tribal?  Prof. Jacobson will talk about what the 2016 election campaigns and elections will tell us about the present and future of partisan politics in the United States.  The 3rd Presidential Debate will be this evening, and it will be live-streamed in the auditorium in its entirety.  We plan to watch the final 30 minutes together, and Prof. Jacobson will incorporate the (expected) partisan rhetoric into his comments.

Schedule for the evening:

6:00 pm - 7:00 pm: Reception (light dinner & non-alcoholic refreshments)

6:00 pm - 7:30 pm: 3rd Presidential Debate will be streamed lived in the auditorium

7:00 pm - 7:30 pm: Viewing of the Final 30 Minutes of the Debate

7:30 pm - 8:30 pm: Lecture and Debate Response

8:30 pm - 9:00 pm: Q&A session
