Latest Developments in Pediatric and Adult Allergy Research
For 100 million Americans, a simple encounter with the wrong food or environmental agent can trigger anything from a stuffy nose to life-threatening anaphylaxis. Officially established in 2014, the Sean N. Parker Center for Allergy & Asthma Research at Stanford, led by Dr. Kari Nadeau, seeks to find the causes of and cures for this growing epidemic. Dr. Nadeau will share her vision, promising discoveries and remaining questions impacting the fields of allergy and asthma today.
Kari Nadeau is a professor of medicine and pediatrics and, by courtesy, of otolaryngology at Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital, and director of the Sean N. Parker Center for Allergy and Asthma Research at Stanford University. Her center’s vision is to find the causes and cures of allergies and to transform the lives of patients and families through innovative science and compassionate care. Dr. Nadeau has authored or co-authored more than 100 original papers, and has maintained an interest in the study of immune mechanisms in allergy and asthma for more than 20 years. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and is a member of American Society of Clinical Investigation.
