New Hope Valley Railway Train Ride
Event Details
11:30AM - 01:30PM
Map address
Join the North Carolina Stanford Alumni Association for a fun, family friendly outing on the Triangle Train – the New Hope Valley Railway – located about 20 minutes south of Raleigh. Date is Sunday November 13 rain or shine.
We all know that Leland Stanford was a key player building the railroad that connected the east and west coasts together. While we won’t get a chance during this outing to pound any “golden spikes”, it will be a fun way to spend the day taking a one hour steam train ride thru the autumn colored countryside followed by a special Beer & BBQ food truck event happening that same day.
This event will be fun for kids, families, couples, singles, empty nesters, and just about everyone. Non-alumni guests are welcome, too. Our steam train will depart at 12:15 pm so aim to be there by 11:30 am to pick up your tickets, and meet your fellow alumni before we board the train at noon.
To participate, you need to purchase your tickets on-line in advance so that we can get an accurate count, and arrange a private car for our group (if we get a large enough response).
Tickets are $15 for adults and $9 for children. Lunch and drink are extra. If you have any questions, contact Victor Varney atrvv1@pacbell.net. Use the link below for more information about the railroad and to purchase your tickets. IMPORTANT: When you purchase your tickets online, be sure to enter STANFORD in the comments section so you will be assigned to the same car as our group.
Do try and wear something to show your Stanford affiliation, too!
