New members are always welcome to join our very informal book disucssion group.

We had lively discussion on September 21 about Honor Killing: Race, Rape, and Clarence Darrow's Spectacular Last Case, by David E. Stannard. We encourage you to read this account of a little-known incident in Hawaiian history.

We have returned to the Stanford Book Salon recommendations for our next book - Imperium: A Novel of Ancient Rome, by Robert Harris.

  • Imperium: A Novel of Ancient Rome follows Marcus Cicero and his quest to bring justice to a society riddled by corruption and injustice. Told from the point of view of Tiro, Marcus’s household slave and right hand man, Imperium: A Novel of Ancient Rome explores Marcus’s ambitious lawyering and the complexity of the legal system in the Roman Empire.

The book is available at local libraries in print, ebook and audio book formats. It is also availble for purchase at the usual websites and book stores.
