7:00 - 8:30 pm "Your Body in the Mountains: Utah and Beyond" Professor Anne Friedlander
Your body is an amazing machine that is equipped with the capacity to deal with the world's great stressors. High altitude is one of those stressors where humans have pushed the limits of performance and survival. Whether you are a weekend hiker, a serious mountaineer, or are just interested in learning more about your body, this talk will have something for you. We will talk about how your body changes acutely and over-time when exposed to various elevations equivalent to Alta, Kings Peak and even Mt Everest. You will also receive practical tips for your next adventure that could help turn mountains into molehills.
Anne L. Friedlander is a consulting professor in human biology and has been teaching exercise physiology classes since 1997. Anne has broad research experience in the areas of enhancing human performance, environmental physiology, and using physical activity and mobility to promote agile aging.
