Starting to stretch your legs in the real world and realizing you still need to learn some lessons in adulting? Want to go brunching, but also trying to save for your retirement? Wanting to know if now is a good time to start saving for your retirement?
In this short workshop, we will play some games and share some advice about personal budgeting, savings, money management, and investing. This is meant to be an entry level discussion, for people looking to dip their toes in the waters of personal finance. This is not a "get rich quickly", "get rich slowly", or "get rich at an even pace" workshop. Rather, this is a time and space for people to explore and share ideas about how they manage their money as they are just beginning their career. There will be a series of structured games and activities, as well as some time for more open discussion, so that participants can share experiences and advice.
Laura Malkiewich is the treasurer for the Cardinal Young Alumni group of New York City. At Stanford, she was also the financial officer for the taekwondo team. She loves spreadsheets, reading about Roth IRAs and saving money for future vacations. She knows little to nothing about stock investing and doesn't plan to give you much advice about stock trading in this talk. Apparently the CYA group of NYC thinks she's good at managing money, so they asked her to lead this workshop.
