Benjamin Hylak, son of local Stanford alum Bridget Hylak, '87, makes robots!

Ben and other innovators will speak at Meet the Makers, a panel discussion hosted by Drexel Univeristy and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics engineers) Philadelphia.  Ben is a sophomore at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.  The other panelists are Marvin Weinberger, inventor-in-Chief at the Innovation Factory, and Jeff Gregorio of ExCITe at Drexel.

Makers are people who are driven by their curiosity for learning and creating new things in education; the Maker Movement involves applying the knowledge learned in the classroom to design and build something of interest to the student.  The panel will talk about he Philadelphia Making comunity, what it means to be a Maker, the interest in Makerspaces, and how Making affects STEAM education (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics).  In addition to the speakers, informal demos and a Making activity are planned.

Light refreshments from 12:45 to 1:30 PM, and the program begins promptly at 1:30 PM.
