"Meet the Makers" with robot-maker Benjamin Hylak at Drexel University

In the 8^th grade, Ben developed a telepresence robot he called MAYA (Me and You Anywhere) which was tested with more than 100 elderly assisted-living residents (including his grandmother).  Ben next created ALAIR (Assisted Living Autonomous Internet Robot), a robotic in-home nurse able to take vitals, Skype with doctors, detect falls, and even dispense medication.

Ben is a national award winner and has been named one of the 20 Under 20 STEAM Pioneers, a prestigious distinction presented by The Huffington Post and Ford to under-20 individuals who are the next generation of the best and brightest innovators.

Last year, Ben worked as an Avionics Engineer at SpaceX, a company founded by Elon Musk which designs, manufactures, and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft.

Use one of the two doors to the Innovation Studio closer to 32nd Street next to a red beacon light on the south side of JFK Blvd.  A greeting table is just inside the entrance.  Free parking is on the south side of JFK Blvd. and the Studio is a 5-minute walk from the West Portal of 30th Street Station's regional rail lines.
