Noah Diffenbaugh

associate professor of earth sciences and senior fellow in the Woods Institute for the Environment

Noah Diffenbaugh, '97, MS '97, studies the climate system, including the processes by which climate change could impact agriculture, water resources, and human health.

Noah is currently an editor of the peer-review journal Geophysical Research Letters, and a lead author for Working Group II of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He teaches a number of classes about climate, including a freshman introductory seminar called "The Global Warming Paradox".

He and his wife Polly ('95), along with their three children, serve as resident fellows in West Florence Moore Hall ("WestFloMo"), which includes the Gavilan, Loro, Mirlo and Paloma dorms. Noah is a Stanford alum (B.S., M.S. '97). He majored and co-termed in earth systems, and was a member of the men's varsity volleyball team. He was a resident of Granada (West Lag) and Synergy, which led him to Polly.
