Have you ever felt you were meant to change the world but doubted that one person can make a difference? Do you have a deep passion in life but aren't sure it can be used to transform the lives of others?
If you have pondered on these question then the Fireside Chat "Turning Passion into Transformation" will be a great source of inspiration. This informative talk will showcase how following your passion can lead to transformation. Shari Eberts (Duke BS '90, Harvard MBA '95) and Nancy Williams (Stanford BA '86, Harvard MBA '92) both suffer from hearing loss. For years, both of these women, Shari a successful executive on Wall Street, and Nancy, a marketer turned creative writer, opted to hide their losses rather than face discrimination.
Shari's passion to find a cure before her children could be struck with hearing loss galvanized her to take a leadership role with the Hearing Health Foundation. For Nancy, her love of classical piano music, and her desire to continue performing as an amateur, caused her to search more and more widely for solutions, including joining the Hearing Health Foundation's board.
Now Shari and Nancy are part of an exciting team that is leading the charge to find a cure for hearing loss for the past ten years. Shari serves as chair and Nancy is a member of the board of the Hearing Health Foundation, a New York City nonprofit that is funding top university labs across the country, including Stanford, to research a biological-based cure for hearing loss.
Come and join the SWN-NY Board for an evening of inspiration which will include a piano performance by Nancy (see her concerts on http://www.youtube.com/user/nancywilliamspiano) and time to mingle with fellow Stanford Alumni
Food and drink will be provided.
