Technology Trends Enable New Markets – In A Flash
Changes in the Storage Industry

While the technical industry undergoes rapid change, the actual change or rate of change is not the important point for technical or business people. The different rate at which different things change is arguably more significant. This talk looks at changes underway in the storage industry – both HDD as well as flash memory, both historical and potential future ones. Past technical constraints and cost structures led to one of the highest performance enterprise flash vendors. The future appears very different: web-scale.

Speaker Bio:

Donpaul C. Stephens is a serial entrepreneur. He founded 3 computer systems companies to date. The second one went public, and the third one remains in stealth mode a short drive from the Stanford campus. He earned his technical degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon (B.S., M.S., and A.B.D.) and a MBA from NYU. His companies have one common thread: identify major technical shifts in the market and build companies that address problems, which did and potentially will occur.
