Faculty Bio

Buzz Thompson, ’73, MBA ’75, JD ’76, is the Robert E. Paradise Professor of Natural Resources Law and Perry L. McCarty Director of the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment. The Woods Institute brings together over 150 faculty members across the university to solve major environmental challenges. Although he works on a variety of issues, he's a confessed water wonk. Professor Thompson chairs the board of the Resources Legacy Fund, a California trustee for The Nature Conservancy, and a board member of both the American Farmland Trust and the Sonoran Institute. He also serves as special master for the United States Supreme Court in an interstate dispute involving the Yellowstone River system. In 2008, he received the Richard W. Lyman Award for exceptional volunteer service to alumni.

Grand Circus is located in the Broderick Towers, across from the historic David Whitney Building. Enter through the gold doors on Woodward and take the elevators to the 4th floor.
