Xiaoze Xie is an internationally renowned painter and the Paul L. & Phyllis Wattis Professor of Art at Stanford University. Through poignant representations of books, newspapers, and ancient manuscripts, Xiaoze explores issues of memory, the notion of the archive, and human knowledge across time. As the attached links demonstrate, his work is beautiful, thought-provoking, and complex.   Last year, Xiaoze was honored with a one-person exhibition at the Denver Art Museum, and this year he will participate in a solo exhibition at the Asia Society Museum in New York City which opens in September. In addition, he recently completed an artist residency with the Dunhuang Foundation at the Mogao Caves, an archeological site famous for its 11th century library replete with pristine manuscripts and murals

The Talley Dunn Gallery has invited the Stanford Club to a preview of the exhibition the night before the opening so that Stanford Alumni could meet and visit with Xiaoze.  This will be a great opportunity to meet Xiaoze while he is here in Dallas.

The reception is an opportunity for Dallas Stanford alumni to enjoy a brief artist talk, socialize, and experience the work of this impressive artist and member of Stanford’s faculty.  The event includes wine, light hors d'ouvres, and valet parking during the reception.
