Join MBSC and Santa Catalina School for our Co-Sponsored Fall Speaker Event!

Principal Researcher Dr. Barbara Block and her team at Stanford University’s Hopkins Marine Station have been using electronic tags to track shark migrations for years. She and her colleagues from the Monterey Bay Aquarium have found that a large number of white sharks that forage each fall in the waters off California migrate annually to an open ocean region halfway between Hawaii and Baja. Little is known about this remote environment, called the White Shark Café and the behavior of sharks that convene there. Why would these large predators choose to leave the eastern Pacific’s coastal cornucopia for this remote oceanic desert?  Come learn! Join us to hear our fall speaker, Dr. Barbara Block from Hopkins Marine Station talk about Voyage to the White Shark Cafe.

5:30 - 6:45 p.m.  Reception with Heavy Hors D'oeuvres, Wine, and Non-alcoholic Beverages

7:00 - 8:30 p.m.  Talk and Q&A
