Executive Power? Checks and Balances? Judicial Activism? The Rule of Law? Impeachment?

With an impeachment inquiry underway and cases being heard by a newly constituted Supreme Court, now is an excellent time to learn (or re-learn) constitutional law. Come hear fellow alum, Cody Harris, ‘00, JD ‘07, boil down key provisions of the U.S. Constitution and tie them to current issues.

How do the federal courts work? What powers does Congress have? What about the President? What about individual rights? From where do the Supreme Court's powers come? We'll cover the basics of impeachment, focusing on the mechanics and some history.

Bring your questions and be ready to re-engage with our nation's founding charter!

Since 2009, Cody Harris has taught constitutional law to lawyers and non-lawyers alike through Stanford's Continuing Studies program. From 2001-2004, he served as press secretary for Congressmember (and Sacramento native son) Robert Matsui. Currently, he is a Partner at Keker, Van Nest & Peters LLP in San Francisco.
