Join us for a town hall with the Asian American Pacific Islander community and Prof. Gordon Chang, former head of Asian American Studies and since April 2019, the senior associate vice provost for undergraduate education.

The town hall was one of the most popular and rabble-rousing events at the first API summit two years ago, and we’re bringing it back in 2019! Open to all Stanford API alumni and friends. Issues that Gordon will address include:

1) What is the state of Asian American issues and representation on campus, including in university leadership roles? Is there a “bamboo ceiling” on the Farm and how do we transcend it?

2) What does the future hold for Asian American Studies at Stanford? Faculty see growing student interest in Asian American Studies every year, but this hasn’t been matched by support from the administration. Why?

3) What can alumni DO to address these priorities? How do we unite to make change in the administration, support tenured API faculty, support API students, ensure the A3C continues to receive funding?

4) Anything you want to share with the API community or ask Gordon! We’re open to any questions and ideas you may have. Feel free to get a head start by asking your questions early at http://bit.ly/2019apitownhall
