The next book club selection is Circe by Madeline Miller. It's a retelling of the story of the Greek goddess from the Odyssey that has been described as bold and subversive. Circe, the daughter of the sun god Helios, is banished to a deserted island where she crosses paths with many of the most famous figures in all of mythology, including the Minotaur, Daedalus and his doomed son Icarus, the murderous Medea, and, of course, wily Odysseus. The book was a #1 New York Times bestseller and named one of the best books of the year by NPR. For this month we are moving up the start time of the book club to 3:00.
This will be a virtual event with an email link to join a Zoom meeting sent out ahead of time. You will need a camera on your laptop, desktop, tablet or phone to be able to join the meeting. You may want to go to Zoom.us ahead of time to download an app. Zoom offers a free membership (the meeting host has a pro-membership so you don't have to worry about the 40 minute cap on the length of meetings that comes with the free membership).
