Most recently, Jordan Kerner was engaged to develop and produce Clifford the Big Red Dog, a hybrid feature film, for Paramount Pictures, with plans to be released in November of 2021. Today there are more than 133 million Clifford books in print in 16 different languages. Jordan previously produced the billion-dollar franchise of The Smurfs 1 and 2 as well as the all animated, Smurfs: The Lost Village, via Columbia Pictures, released in the Spring of 2017. He has previously produced the award winning, critically and financially successful Charlotte’s Web with Paramount Pictures. Kerner’s previous films, many in partnership with Jon Avnet at the Avnet/Kerner Company, include such titles as Fried Green Tomatoes, When a Man Loves a Woman, Three Musketeers, George of the Jungle 1 and 2, The Mighty Ducks trilogy, Inspector Gadget 1 and 2, Less than Zero, Up Close and Personal, The War, Snow Dogs, and Red Corner as well as the Television movies “A Wrinkle in Time,” “Heatwave,” “For Their Own Good,” “The Switch,” and many others, including the limited series “Mama Flora’s Family” and “The Judds.” Kerner was honored to be named a Billion Dollar Producer by Variety Magazine in July 2013, with articles centering on his work in feature film, his previous and future work in television, his work as Dean of Filmmaking at UNCSA, and his deep involvement in the political worlds of California, North Carolina and many national races. He was presented the Producer of the Year Award by the Hollywood Entertainment Museum at its 2006 Legacy Award event.
His films have received nominations for or have won Academy Awards®, Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, BAFTA Awards, The People’s Choice Award, The Critics Choice Award, The Nick Award, DGA Awards, WGA Awards, The Humanitas Award, The Christopher Award, NAACP Award, The Diversity Award, The Golden Satellite Award, The Golden Reel Award, The Art Directors Guild Award and Visual Effects Society Awards.
Kerner is a graduate of Stanford University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree with Distinction in Political Science and Mass Communications. He also received a joint graduate degree from both the University of California at Berkeley with an MBA from the Haas School of Business (including an emphasis in Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy) and University of California at San Francisco, Hastings College of the Law where he was a member of the UC Hastings Law Review and founder and Chief Editor of COMM/ENT The Journal of Communications and Entertainment Law. Mr. Kerner founded the joint degree programs for UC Hastings with UC Berkeley, which now include masters in Business, Journalism and a host of other programs.
He currently resides in Brentwood, California with his wife Nicola O’Shea, their daughters Haley, Grace and Lily; a white Labrador retriever Ollie (AKA Lawrence Olivier); and Zoë the cat; Little Maggie and their other cat Luna moved with their daughter to Scripps College for a change of perspective.
