Come and hear about what it is like to be on the management team of one of the world’s largest companies—as well as how it feels to leave.
Jessica Powell ’00 is the former Vice President of Communications at Google and served on the company’s management team. She is now co-founder and CEO of Audioshake, an A.I. startup that builds sound separation software to help musicians make additional revenue for their work. She is also a New York Times contributing opinion writer and author of two books. Her fiction and non-fiction have been published in TIME, The Guardian, The New York Times, WIRED, Fast Company, and elsewhere.
Throughout this talk, we will touch on her career, including her experience leading Google’s communication and PR efforts as well as co-founding and being CEO of her own startup. We will talk about what it’s like to be an author and how she came up with her hilarious satire on Silicon Valley, The Big Disruption. Finally, we will also talk about her personal experience being a woman in tech, and what the tech industry can do to be more inclusive and provide more opportunities for women.
This will be an informal discussion where participants can ask any questions that they may have.
