Who would have known, but back in the 1890’s there was a luxury resort built above Pasadena that was a popular tourist attraction. It was called the White City and offered views of Pasadena and great expanses of Southern California. At the time, tourists were brought up to the resort via a now-defunct tramway. The resort itself was long ago destroyed by wildfires, but the ruins remain. We’ll get there via a moderate 5.4 mile hike that should take about 3 hours up and back. It’s a steady climb, but not too steep. Wear sunscreen as apparently there is not a lot of shade. There are lots of markers that provide a nice history of the area and the resort itself.
