How Do Diplomatic Couples Handle Career Challenges?

Chase Beamer, representing the U.S. Department of State, is the 2020-2021 National Security Affairs Fellow at the Hoover Institute. Previously a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mauritania, he now specializes in Public Diplomacy and has served our country throughout the world, receiving numerous awards for his public service. Commissioned as a Foreign Service Officer one day before the 9/11 terrorist attacks, his goals include both information building and enhancing the quality of life for our dedicated diplomats.

Highly experienced U.S. diplomat and Stanford Alum Katharine Beamer has employed her expertise as a Political, Economic and Public Affairs officer in a variety of countries (Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Poland, Slovakia, and Guatemala), and notably focused on human rights in particularly challenging settings. She will take on the Hoover Institute National Security Affairs Fellow role for academic year 2021-2022.
