June 21 to July 1, 2022

Relive bygone eras on two day trips aboard vintage private trains and a two-night train journey aboard the luxurious Royal Scotsman with English professor Elaine Treharne.

Press pause. Slow down and watch the passing landscapes as we cross the Yorkshire moors and traverse the Scottish Highlands. Our journey through Welsh pastures and forests, past lakes and waterfalls is aboard the world’s oldest narrow-gauge railway. Land of Lancelot. In Wales, birthplace of the Arthurian legend and home to more castles per square mile than anywhere else in Europe, explore medieval Conwy Castle. Och aye. Observe and/or engage in a variety of robust Scottish pastimes, including clay-pigeon shooting, tartan weaving and whisky tasting. Hill and dale. Journey from the mountains of Snowdonia through the Yorkshire Dales to the peaks and valleys of the Scottish Highlands.
