Maria Anderson (AB Econ ’85, AM History ’89) was active at Stanford as a member of the Varsity Swim Team and the LSJUMB. Originally interested in studying law, she instead ended up in higher education. Maria has held a number of operations-related positions in higher education and is currently Associate Dean for Finance & Administration at Boston University’s School of Management. In her current role, she oversees funds of $50+ million, human resources, IT, facilities, and special events. As a key advisor to the Dean, she has input on the development of strategic initiatives and long-range planning. Outside of work, Maria is still an avid swimmer. Along with her Stanford degrees, Maria has an MS in Management and a PhD in Sociology. Her academic interest concerns the transition of former professional athletes to life after sports and how they recreate their central identity. Maria lives in Charlestown with her husband, Jim (Stanford ’84). She has a 24-year old daughter and an 18-year old son.
Catherine Gamon is Director of the MIT Sloan School Student Life Office, which fosters a culture of collaboration, contribution, and caring across MIT Sloan's portfolio of graduate degree programs. Catherine co-chairs the Sloan Diversity Committee and the Sloan Values Committee, and she plays an active role in initiatives to advance a respectful and caring community throughout MIT. Prior to joining Sloan, Catherine managed campus relations in the Eastern US for the American Institute for Study and the Council on International Educational Exchange. Previously, she directed study abroad advising services at Stanford University and the University of California, San Diego. Catherine holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Stanford University. She earned a master’s in Counseling from San Diego State University. Her MBA is from Simmons College. More recently, Catherine has completed Positive Psychology certification from Kripalu.
