New members are always welcome to join our very informal book disucssion group.

Our August discussion will focus on Victorian England. We have chosen to try a new format - an interactive ebook originally published in serial format with weekly releases. The entire novel - Belgravia, by Julian Fellowes, may be now be purchased on the Belgravia website ($13.99) and read on computer or an iOS or Android device. It is not currently availlable in print. Read a review of this 1840s social drama by a New York Times critic.

There are two alternate titles for those who prefer nonficiton.

Charles and Emma: the Darwin's Leap of Faith, by Deborah Heligman, is an examination of the courtship and marriage of Charles Darwin and his wife, Emma. Read a review here.

The Professor and the Madman: a Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the Making of the Oxford Dictionary, by Simon Winchester, is the story of an unusual partnership betwen two unlikely allies. Read a review here.

We will discuss any or all three books - whatever those in attendance have read. We hope that talking about chilly England will help us stay cool in August!
