Bring your family out to Slide Ranch to lend a helping hand in a community service project (and earn community service hours for the kids, too).  While working under the supervision of trained staff, volunteer day projects may include working in the organic garden (weeding, pruning, and planting), composting, removing invasive plants, or maintaining trails and beach access on Slide’s teaching farm and 134 acres of coastal wild lands.

The mission of Slide Ranch is to connect the Bay Area with farm-based environmental education that focuses on the principles of sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.  By cooking, gardening, caring for animals and exploring country and coast, Slide Ranch teaches students and families to see the connection between their own choices, a healthy food system and a healthy, resilient environment.

Slide’s Executive Director, Marika Bergsund, is a Stanford alumna.  She and her staff will give us a fun tour of the ranch and garden, where we will get a chance to see goats, chickens, sheep, and ducks, before participating in a group community service project.  The event is open to ages five and up (parental supervision is required for volunteers under the age of 14).

This project is affiliated with the Stanford Club of Marin. All alumni welcome.
