TX - Houston: College Prep Workshop

We are looking for alumni to present a college readiness workshop targeted to youth ages 11-17. Topics will include effective study habits, developing a competitive advantage, and designing a plan for a successful future. Volunteers will guide the students through the workshop topics and help to facilitate group discussion and activities.
We have a PowerPoint presentation template for the workshop which will be distributed in advance - we just need volunteers to deliver it to the students and add your own insights and 'golden nuggets'. Our goal is to plant the seeds of higher education starting at the middle school level and to empower the next generation with the necessary tools for success.
We will partner with the youth ministry of Riceville Mt. Olive Baptist Church and the event will be open to the entire community. In addition to the college prep workshop, we will also plan to have a career panel and will need volunteers who are willing to sit on the panel and speak about their careers.
If you have middle school or high school aged children, this would be an excellent event for them to attend!
