Mapping Your Dream is a grassroots marketing and fundraising workshop that teaches self-producing artists and creative business people four key steps to financing their creative dreams. Learn how to tell your story, market yourself, brainstorm culturally-relevant fundraising strategies, and build community around your work in this fun and engaging interactive workshop!

Facilitator: Iquo B. Essien, Stanford BS '03
Iquo B. Essien is a writer, director, and business consultant. She teaches self-producing artists and creative business people how to fundraise and market their work through her online course and workbook, Crowdfund Your Dream. She created the course to address the challenges faced by artists from marginalized communities, drawing on 10+ years of experience in communications, marketing, and fundraising, as well as her own experiences as a self- producing filmmaker.

With a B.S. in biological sciences from Stanford University (2003), Ms. Essien began her career at a communications firm representing global health clients such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. Driven to combine her passion for social change and the arts, she received her MFA in Film from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts (2015) where she was nominated for the 2013 Student Academy Awards, 2015 Africa Movie Academy Awards, and won the Spike Lee Production Fund grant for her film Aissa’s Story.
