Michelle Obama, married to the 44th president Barack Obama, was the first lady from 2009-2017. She grew up on the south side of Chicago, and was educated at Princeton University and Harvard Law School. She worked as a lawyer for Sidley & Austin, and later administrator at the University of Chicago until her husband's political career led to the presidency. As first lady she served as an advocate for various initiatives, including physical wellness, arts and education, and helping military families. Her memoir Becoming sold more copies than any other book published in the United States in 2018, breaking the record in just 15 days.
