NY Times bestselling author Lori Gottlieb, ’89, will speak about her book, Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, Her Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed, and how it applies to these challenging times.
Lori, who also writes The Atlantic’s weekly “Dear Therapist” advice column and contributes regularly to The New York Times and many other publications, says that, “Stories are about one person saying to another: This is who I am. Can you understand me?” As both a psychotherapist and a writer, she believes, “that our stories form the core of our lives and give them deeper meaning.” She adds, “Of course, in the best of therapy and writing, the story we start out with may not be the story we end up with.”
This will be a moderated discussion followed by questions at the end. Participants are encouraged to read Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, Her Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed before the discussion.
